THREADING

Threading is a hair removal technique that has been practiced for centuries. Facial hair is removed swiftly yet meticulously from the most delicate areas of the face by knotting off thread and creating a trap that forces out hair by the root. It is the best alternative to waxing and tweezing, especially for sensitive skin. Unlike waxing, threading does not remove a layer of skin, which can leave the skin on your face susceptible to sun damage. By far the least invasive method of facial hair removal, threading can target individual hairs to get the precise shape and smooth finish you want.

Threading is comparable to tweezing or waxing. You may feel a pinching or light scraping sensation, but most customers agree that threading is not painful when compared to other hair removal methods.

A simple eyebrow threading can take just 5-10 minutes. The upper lip takes about 5 minutes; a full face thread takes about 20-30 minutes.

Eyebrows
Sideburns

Chin
Fingers/hands
Toes/feet

Threading does not peel off a layer of skin
Hair does not grow back as fast
The skin doesn’t usually get red and irritated
Threading can target individual hairs
Hair only needs to grow just above the skin to get threaded
Over time, hair becomes finer and more sparse
Threading will pick up the finest hairs from the surface of the skin

Depending on your hair type and area of the face, full re-growth can be anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks. Hair will start to grow back sparse and finer after repeated threading because hair is pulled out at the root, which weakened it. You can get re-threaded as soon hair grows just above the skin, whereas with waxing the hair needs to be at least 2/8″ long before it can be removed again.

No. Since hairs are being removed from the root they actually tend to grow back finer over time.

The thread must be pulled taut in order to accurately and precisely remove each hair. However, the thread that touches the aesthetician’s mouth never touches your face

Yes. However, depending on your sensitivity level, you may experience redness or minor bumps at site, but it should subside in 10-15 minutes. In rare cases, the area may remain red for an hour or two. If you tend to break out after treatment, we recommend not using the lotion or aloe gel that your aesthetician usually applies. Refrain from using face products for a few hours until the area is less sensitive.

Yes! Before you begin, let your aesthetician know how you want your brows shaped and how thick or thin you’d like them.

Absolutely, but be aware that to create an arched look, our aestheticians will need to remove more hair which creates a thinner brow. If you want a thicker brow shaped to your natural contours, we don’t recommend the arched look.

Although hair can be removed once it’s grown above the surface of the skin, we recommend waiting for about two weeks to give your eyebrows a chance to grow back in so your aesthetician can give you the shape you want. You can come in anytime for a “clean up.”

Let your hair grow just above the skin and you’re ready. If you want a new or different shape to your brows, let them grow a bit but do not tweeze them so your aesthetician can see their natural shape before suggesting the best shape for your face.

Check with your doctor about the specific healing time for your procedure and inquire how long you should wait until to resume threading.

FACIALS

We have two types, the Clean Up and the Regular Facial. Both are no-fuss facials aimed at extracting blackheads, getting the dirt and oil out of your pores and leaving you with clean, refreshed skin.

Clean Up Facial (1/2 Hour – perfect for your lunch hour!)
Cleanse the skin
Steam the face
Gentle face massage
Extract blackheads
Mud mask to clean and close pores

Regular Facial (45 Minutes – indulge in a longer massage)
Cleanse the skin
Steam the face
Gentle face massage (extended)
Extract blackheads
Mud mask to clean and close pores

Ideally, you should have those services on different days. If you can’t, we recommend getting threaded after your facial. Even though we use gentle products for our facials, you should avoid skin products for few hours after your threading session.

EYELASH EXTENTIONS

Let mesmer-eyes enhance your lashes for a beautiful, sophisticated look. Choose short or medium lashes for an enhanced natural look or long lashes to for a more dramatic effect. Our specialist will apply each individual lash with black adhesive to your natural lashes. Because lash extensions last a few days to a week, we suggest that you come in on the day of your special event. Our specialist will add a few extra lashes to prevent a patchy look should a few fall out.

Don’t use mascara or harsh cleansers because they will shorten the lifespan of your eyelash extensions.

Pick up an adhesive remover at your local pharmacy, usually located near the fake eyelashes.

HENNA

Henna is a natural reddish-brown dye used for temporary tattoos and hair dye (we don’t do hair at Mesmer-Eyes). It’s made into a mud-like paste that is applied to any part of the body to create a long-lasting temporary tattoo in a design of your choice. It’s completely painless. It’s simply drawn onto the skin, like piping on a cake. Once the henna is fully dried it will cake off the skin to reveal a beautiful henna tattoo.

You can bring in a design to show to our henna artists or let them create one for you.

Application time depends on the intricacy and size of the design. It could be as little as 10 minutes or up to a full hour. It will take an addition 30-45 minutes to dry, and we suggest that you remain in the salon until the henna is dry.

Henna tattoos are temporary –they last anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks, depending on skin type. We recommend that you don’t apply any water, lotion or oils to henna tattoo on the day it’s applied.

We encourage appointments, that way we can guarantee a fresh batch of henna will be waiting for you. We do not use henna with any additives, and we do not use black henna because it’s not natural and can cause rashes on certain skin types.

SAFETY

All of our equipment — scissors, tweezers and brushes — are disinfected in Barbicide after every use. We rotate all of our tools so they can be sanitized in the Barbicide for the proper amount of time. Mesmer-Eyes aestheticians wear non-latex rubber gloves during all waxing and facial sessions.

COMMENTS

If you have any problems while you are at Mesmer-Eyes, please talk to us and let us know how we can make your next visit better. We’d rather work out the issue than have you leave dissatisfied and unwilling to return and recommend our services to your friends. It’s our policy that you may request another aesthetician any time during a hair removal service if you are unsatisfied.
